Ayurvedic Therapies

Ayurvedic therapies are well known for having both physiological and psychological benefits. During Ayurvedic treatments, medicated oils or powders made from natural herbs and plants are used and as a result there are no side-effects.

Ayurvedic therapies they are extremely relaxing, rejuvenating and promoting overall healing.

Shirodhara (Forehead oil flow treatment)

Is a deeply relaxing and therapeutic oil flow treatment where the warm oil is continuously poured on the forehead in a slow, rhythmic movement and then is followed with a gentle face and head massage. Shirodhara is one of the fundamental treatments in Ayurveda and is used for treating conditions like:

* insomnia
* depression and anxiety
* headaches
* hypertension
* stress-related digestive problems.

Shirodhara treatment helps to regulate the hormonal system, soothe the nervous system, improves memory, clarity of mind and the ability to focus.

Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes

Basti treatments

Basti (or Vasthi) means “to stay in place“.

In this Ayurvedic Hot Oil therapy, a dough ring made of flour is formed and placed on the chosen area of the body, then warm, herb-infused oil is poured in; when the oil cools down, it is removed and another portion of warm oil is poured again. The oil creates a deep, penetrating heat that radiates through the muscles releasing tension and stiffness. This procedure is repeated a couple of times and finished with gentle massage of the treated area of the body.

Duration: 1 hour 15 minutes

Hridaya Basti

This is an extremely calming therapy where the dough ring is formed on the heart area (“Hridaya” means “Heart”) and warm oil is left inside it for 20-30 minutes. This treatment: helps to strengthen the heart functions, releases deep-seated emotions, calms and deepens the breath.

It is one of the most powerful and effective therapies in Ayurveda.

Nabhi Basti

A deeply relaxing therapy that strengthens the power of digestion, aids absorption, and relieves digestive symptoms like: poor appetite, constipation, indigestion, gas and abdominal bloating.

In Nabhi Basti therapy, the dough ring is placed over the navel area, and then followed by the abdominal massage.

Karna Purana

An ear therapy that helps to treat: earaches, deafness, ringing of the ears, headaches, neck and jaw pain. The ears are filled with warm herbal oils or organic ghee and left for a few minutes to lubricate the ear canal.

Karna Purana is highly recommended for people with sleeping difficulties, nervousness and restlessness.

Netra Tarpana

A soothing and nourishing treatment for the eyes during which they are bathed with organic ghee for a couple of minutes. The dough is made around the eye and warm ghee is gently poured in. Eyes are opened and closed several times to provide optimum nourishment and rejuvenation.

This treatment helps to: removes dark circles under the eyes, relieves tension in the eye muscles, rejuvenates dry & puffy eyes. It is recommended in the early stages of cataracts.

Please do not drink alcohol or take any recreational drugs before a massage; also make sure that you do not have a big meal for at least 1 hour before the session.

Please tell the practitioner if you are suffering from a cold, fever, high or low blood pressure, diabetes or any other serious medical condition; some conditions may reduce the effectiveness of your treatment or may be contraindicated for the chosen treatment.
